MAKING THINGS HAPPEN
Devonshire giving exists to help people at the Devonshire make exciting or meaningful things happen. Every year, a portion of our profits will be given to charity or projects of interest.
There is never any need to engage if you are not interested. However, if you do ever want to get involved then please let Sophie, Chrissy, Gemma, Sujan or any of the founders know at any time.
The philosophy is deliberately simple, intentionally discreet and existing to help the team support things they find meaningful.
This website is intended to be internal to the Devonshire and we will not be shouting about any of the things we support. This does not mean we are not very excited about what we are doing. Quite the opposite - but the motivation is simply to get stuff done, not to try and impress by shouting about it.
Devosnhire Giving is unique. It will give money to many charities but is it not formally a charity which gives us an exciting freedom to design it exactly h0w we want to be to and think about how to make it as exciting as possible for everyone who is part of the Devonshire. This website will change and improve, as might some of the ideas-it really is just a starting point to get the conversation going and try to work out what we think it should be.
Sophie would love to hear any feedback about how to do this best. ‘Devonshire Giving’ is also perhaps not a good name as again it is not entirely a charity - just a really positive way of making things happen (which everyone at The Devonshire can feel welcome to be involved in shaping). If you can think of a better name please let Sophie know!
There will make one main round of donations a year
This will be done over the space of one week. The beginning of the week will start with suggestions beign collected. These will then be reviewed and checked and then payments mase by the end of the week. The date of this week will vary but will be chosen to coincide with a quiet week at the pub without too many distactions.
We are happy to receive ideas at any time during the year and they will be noted. If anything needs to be acted on quickly, we will try to make that happen.
These will be one off donations based on suggestions from anyone who is involved with the Devonshire. We have no current plans to set up long term partnerships with any of the charities
Anyone who works at the Devonshire is very welcome to make a suggestion - front and back of house at all levels
It is run in an intentionally inf0rmal way and the best way to share your ideas or stories is to tell Sophie or Chrissy in person, or using this form here
